2018 is around the corner, and each year brings with it new, exciting opportunities for travel. British Airways released its annual travel predictions for the year ahead, selecting the top 18 must-see destinations, taking factors including highly anticipated sporting events, new routes and popular TV shows and movies into account.

One of the top must-see destinations for 2018 is the Seychelles — home to some of the most idyllic islands in the world. The islands offer sunshine, jungle adventures, relaxing beach days and exceptional scuba diving. Beginning March 24, 2018, British Airways will be the only airline to offer direct flights to the Seychelles (SEZ) from the United Kingdom. Virgin America operates a flight from Los Angeles (LAX), Emirates offers service from Newark (EWR) and Etihad offers flights from New York (JFK).

The top 18 list also includes Toronto, the largest city in Canada, home to thriving art, culture, restaurant and nightlife scenes. Visit during the Toronto Film Festival in September, attended by more than 480,000 people annually.

Nashville takes a spot on the list for its iconic music scene and must-see landmarks like Bluebird Café and The Country Music Hall of Fame, and experiences like touring the Jack Daniel’s distillery and enjoying a traditional southern meal at one of many renowned culinary venues. Starting May 2018, British Airways will travel directly from Europe to the home of country music.

With the Winter Olympics around the corner, Seoul makes the list for must-see destinations, home to both modern and ancient traditions, culture and architecture. Explore the city’s famous street markets, stunning Buddhist temples, world-class golf courses and ski resorts while in town for the Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Other destinations included on British Airways’ top 18 list included Malta, a 2018 European Capital of Culture; Russia, home to the World Cup 2018 host cities; Croatia, home to popular Game of Thrones shooting locations; Inverness, Scotland, ideal for adventure travelers and whiskey lovers alike; Tallin, Estonia, which celebrates its 100th birthday in 2018; as well as Santiago, New York, Lisbon, Mykonos, Copenhagen, Muscat and Barbados.
