Cape Resorts honors the tradition of its iconic hospitality style of yesteryear with the official debut and reimagining of The Pridwin, a stunning waterfront retreat on New York’s Shelter Island. The hotel soft launched in 2022 following two years of extensive renovations, but now is ready to reopen April 20 as a haven of relaxed elegance and luxurious fun.

Originally built in 1927, The Pridwin has long served as a beacon of tradition and welcoming hospitality on Long Island’s East End. With the perfect combination of playful nostalgia and modern sensibility, the refreshed Main House features 33 rooms, various gathering and meeting places and 16 private cottages, all across 7 acres of restored shoreline overlooking Shelter Island’s Crescent Beach.

We are thrilled to launch our first full season next month after our top to bottom renovation last year, and are so proud that we were able to fully update the building while retaining its soul and respecting what is beautiful about Shelter Island.”

Upon arrival, guests are greeted in the lower lobby by a welcoming check-in area, lounge and history hall, featuring archival photographs, property signage, room keys and hotel mementos from the past nine decades.

On the second floor, the upper lobby’s main hall features dramatic vintage chandeliers repurposed from The Pridwin’s original dining room. The living room boasts a cozy, wood-burning hearth, fully stocked library and a large collection of board games perfect for gatherings on rainy days.

The retreat- and camp-like atmosphere is enhanced by a variety of outdoor spaces and activities to fill the long summer days. A private swimming pool and beach overlook the 120-foot east and west docks, each offering bar and food services. Additional activities include biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, playing on the tennis courts, fishing and trying out various motorized watersports.
