Airlines caught on to the widespread expectation among travelers regarding included in-flight services, particularly free WiFi. Whether this means access to in-flight entertainment options or simply the ability to send iMessages and WhatsApp messages, passengers have come to expect this amenity on most flights, whether economy or business class, domestic or international.
In response, one of the latest airlines to recognize connectivity as an absolute must for travelers is Air New Zealand.
Another airline already offering free connectivity to travelers is JetBlue. Those airlines that plan to make free WiFi a part of flight inclusions within the next year or two include Delta Air Lines, which already allows free in-flight messaging via apps like iMessage and WhatsApp, as do Alaska Airlines and Southwest. Elsewhere, Qatar Airways and Philippine Airlines make WiFi available but have predetermined data and time limits for passengers.
