With spring right around the corner, many cities anticipate and prepare for flowers’ blooms. Head to one of these cities this spring to see some of nature’s most beautiful blooms and spring displays.

Greater Victoria, British Columbia

From February–May, Victoria is a hot spot for spring florals, especially cherry blossoms. Along View Street, cherry blossoms line the street in an explosion of pinks and reds. In addition to experiencing the cherry blossom bloom in Victoria, the region also hosts The Greater Victoria Flower Count. Held March 9–16, this community-wide celebration sees the region count the number of blossoms to hold the title of the Bloomingest Community of the Greater Victoria area.

Shizuoka, Japan

From mid-February to mid-March, witness the bloom of rapeseed flowers on the southernmost tip of the Izu Peninsula. Yellows cover the sky each spring as the rapeseed, or Nanohana flowers, emerge from their winter hibernation.

In the hot spring town of Atami, visitors are also invited to view the plum and cherry blossoms in the town’s annual blossom festival. Through mid-March, the plum blossoms erupt in colors of fuchsia, white and sometimes even yellow.

Texas Hill Country, Texas

Head to The Hill Country to experience one of the country’s greatest wildflower blooms. From the roads between Marble Falls and Burnet to Lampasas and San Saba, the region transforms into a rainbow of flowers. Visitors will come across a wide variety of wildflowers, including daisies, winecups, pink evening primroses, bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, prairie verbena and goldeneye phlox. Discover the trails featuring many of these beautiful flowers.

Madeira, Portugal

Enjoy the Madeira Flower Festival May 5–29 to experience the cultural event and celebration of spring. The event, held since 1979, includes performances of folk groups and musical concerts, as well as floral installations throughout Funchal and Allegorical Flower Parade. Visitors can also witness great floats and costumes decorated with thousands of flowers.

Los Angeles County, California

Visit Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve to see more than eight miles of bright orange California poppies. Located in Lancaster, visitors can enjoy fields of orange March–April. The California Poppy Festival is held April 22–24 where food, live entertainment and animals come together in a weekend-long celebration of spring and the California poppy.
