A survey conducted by IPK International reveals 40 percent of international travelers change their travel behavior due to terroristic threats. While more travelers are taking to the skies, the way they do and the destinations they choose are changing as violent events occur around the world. Asian and Eastern European travelers are affected the most, while travelers from South America, Scandinavia and the Netherlands were least likely to change their travel plans due to worldwide threats. As expected, parents show more caution than young and single travelers. According to the report, as many as 15 percent are choosing to travel only domestically this year because of recent terrorist attacks. The trend is especially seen among German natives. Approximately one-fourth plan to travel only to countries deemed the most safe. When asked to rank destinations by safety as pertained to terrorism, Israel, Turkey and Egypt were given the lowest ratings. Tunisia, Morocco and Jordan also experienced a dip in safety reputations. Top destinations included Canada, Australia, Switzerland and Scandinavia.
