Curbside check-in is on the verge of a breakthrough at Dubai Airports where travelers may soon be able to check their bags in the taxi en route to the airport.
The airport is currently testing technology that would enable passengers to print their checked luggage tags in the taxi, so the bags are tagged and ready to go when the car pulls up to the departure terminal. Security takes the bags and the passenger proceeds, unencumbered, to their gate or lounge.
It’s not clear when, or if, the technology will roll out. In the meantime, it’s a concept worthy of conversation as airports strive for new and effective ways to streamline the travel experience.
