Located on Milwaukee’s North Shore, Glendale hosts more than 100 events and festivals each year. Here are a few options to consider for your summer travels:

The Wisconsin Brewers Guild hosts the 2023 Wisconsin Beer Lovers Festival June 17, featuring more than 50 of the state’s best craft breweries, local restaurants and food trucks at The Yard at Bayshore. Live music sets the scene.

Fourth of July celebrations include the Main Parade Extravaganza, setting off at 10:30 a.m. On Aug. 5, the Root Beer Capital of the World hosts the sixth annual Sprecher Root Beer Bash at Bayshore. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., food trucks and root beer floats are within easy reach.

On Aug. 19, Brew City Cigar Festival showcases premium cigars and spirts at The Bavarian Bierhaus. Tickets include a selection of premium cigars, along with unlimited samplings of craft beers, wines and spirits. The evening includes demonstrations and live entertainment.

Enjoy the area’s beauty with outdoor recreation options such as fly fishing the section of the Milwaukee River cutting through Glendale at Kletzsch Park. The park is also a great place for hiking and birdwatching.

For a day of straight-up walking exploration, make your way to The Oak Leaf Trail, a 120-mile- long, multiuse pathway connecting 13 Metro-Milwaukee communities. Walkers, cyclists (and cross-country skiers in winter) are welcome. The trailhead is located at the extreme western end of Bender Road. Along the way, you’ll find access to local destinations including Milwaukee Art Museum, The War Memorial and Bavarian Bierhaus.
