In a survey, 70 percent of respondents expressed the unlikelihood of traveling to Cuba. The poll, conducted by Allianz Global Assistance, found the majority of those surveyed were unlikely to travel to the country due to safety concerns, lack of travel information and caution regarding travel to a Communist country. Other concerns included an unstable travel infrastructure, no internet or mobile connectivity and a lack of quality health care facilities.

Only 7 percent of respondents agreed they were very likely to plan a trip to Cuba. Most, however, had no certain timeframe during which they expected to visit. Those who were interested cited new beach resorts as being a large draw to the area, followed by cultural attractions, Cuban food, rum and Cuban cigars.

Most agreed relaxed U.S. travel restrictions to Cuba would result in positive changes for the country. When asked if they could possibly foresee any negative changes as an impact, the most popular answers were Cuba would experience too rapid a modernization period or the island would simply become a tourist trap.
