Last month, the St. Regis Venice opened with the largest waterfrontage in Venice and a location within five former Venetian palaces dating back to the 1600s. The property debuted following a two-year full renovation of the former Grand Hotel Brittania, originally opened in 1895.

The property offers nearly 200 guestrooms and suites, many with private terraces or Juliet balconies. A secluded hotel garden is open to both guests and locals. The St. Regis Venice is the third St. Regis property in Italy, following The St. Regis Florence and The St. Regis Rome.

The St. Regis Venice sits at the mouth of the Grand Canal, giving guests access to the Santa Maria della Salute Basilica, Punta della Dogana Museum, Piazza San Marco and Calle XXII Marzo. The hotel’s signature restaurant is Gio’s, serving seasonal Venetian and Italian fare. From the adjacent garden, guests and locals can hail a drink from the roaming Spritz Trolley. The intimate Arts Bar serves art-inspired cocktails combined with modern jazz.

“Venice is one of the world’s most inimitable cities; one which has inspired royalty, artists, merchants and jet setters alike for more than fifteen centuries,” said Jenni Benzaquen, vice president of luxury brands, Europe, Marriott International. “The St. Regis Venice unites the captivating spirit of the city with the timeless sophistication and service of the brand, re-interpreting Venice’s rich history through a modern lens.”

Athens: A city that charms its guests and stirs their emotions

The city took its name from Athena, goddess of wisdom, strategy and war, and protector of the city. The financial, political and administrative center of the country and an all-powerful city-state in antiquity, Athens is a major center of culture. A visit to the first-ever museum dedicated to Byzantium, a stroll around the National Garden and a trip to the Olympeion archaeological site will take you back through time.

Parkway Bakery & Tavern Review

My husband, friends and I visited Parkway Bakery & Tavern on a recent trip to New Orleans. The restaurant is one of the most well-known for the city’s signature sandwich, the po’ boy. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so we arrived close to when it opened and braved the already-long line.

Celebrating the Best of Leisure Travel

WELCOME TO THE EIGHTH ANNUAL Leisure Lifestyle Issue, celebrating the best in leisure travel. This year is a bit different because many of us haven’t traveled as we have in the past, but instead of writing about what we’ve missed in 2020, I’m looking forward to what will be possible in the rest of the year and beyond.

A Lighter Footprint

Find Travel Inspiration in the Eighth Annual Leisure Lifestyle Issue

WHAT A YEAR ... AND IT’S ONLY JUNE (or already June, depending on how you look at it). “Leisure lifestyle” may seem like an oxymoron in 2020, but as an optimist and travel enthusiast, I’m still determined to live the rest of this year to the fullest (or as full as possible, given the ongoing COVID-19 situation) — with travel at the forefront — and there’s no better way to do that than with a strictly leisure vacation.
