Denizens of Beantown looking for a way to cool off that doesn’t involve jumping in the questionable Charles River will have another option in the form of the city’s first and only rooftop pool.

The Colonnade Hotel’s rooftop pool is open to visitors wishing to sunbathe, swim and sample cocktails with views of the city below and beyond. Set atop the 12-story hotel in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, visitors grab one of the 12 stools at the pool’s outdoor bar or lie on one of the coveted chaise lounges or cabanas between dips in the water.

The pool is always free for hotel guests and residents of The Colonnade, but public access is available 8 a.m.–5 p.m. for $45, and 5–10 p.m. for $10.

In addition to the opportunity to cool off with a swim, pool guests can also take advantage of a summer lineup of events hosted on the rooftop. Each Tuesday night from 5:30–7:30 p.m., the space hosts roofTOP Chefs, a casual cookout featuring well-known local chefs and live music. Tickets are $30 per person and all proceeds go to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry.

On Wednesdays, Rebecca Pacheco hosts one-hour RTP Yoga with Rebecca, beginning at 6:45 a.m. Visit the pool on Thursday mornings at 6:45 a.m., for Kick It with kickboxing instructor Eliza Shirazi. Each class is $20, but guests can purchase a class pass and pool access for $45.
