Sofitel New York unveiled its latest art exhibit, found in the hotel’s lobby, open to the public and free through October.
The exhibit marks the 75th anniversary of France-Amérique, a bilingual publication with a focus on French-American culture and lifestyle. The exhibit features 20 original covers by French artist Olivier Tallec.
Tallec is known for his illustrations found in French newspapers, conveying powerful messages through seemingly simple pieces of art. France-Amérique was founded during World War II as a French-language newspaper in 1943. Now the monthly publication is the only French-English bilingual magazine in the United States.
“Utilizing Olivier’s creative work, this exhibit serves as a reminder of the significance of the American-French spirit within the Sofitel and France-Amérique brands,” said Marie-Paule Nowlis, hotel manager, Sofitel New York. “Our hope is that guests and members of the public will come and enjoy the collection and leave with a better understanding of the relationship between these two great cultures.”
