Andaz Hotels & Resorts partnered with The Society of Scent to create individual scents for each property and locale to further create a distinct guest experience at Andaz properties. Each scent is backed by a “scent story” compiled via firsthand Society of Scent visits to each property and interviews with local purveyors.
“Scent is one of the most powerful senses because of its connection to memory. This link is what we seek to capitalize on for Andaz hotels,” said Heather Geisler, VP, global brands, Hyatt. “Our collaboration with The Society of Scent is aimed at not only creating scents that convey the unique guest experience at each hotel, but more importantly, to continue to evoke memories of the experience through scent long after the guest departs.”
“The Society of Scent was built by and for a community of fragrance enthusiasts,” added Jean Claude Delville, perfumer and representative, The Society of Scent. “We know that scent can be a powerful way to communicate the unique story of each locale, and these custom scents will be developed with that in mind. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
