Smithsonian Journeys and PONANT partner for a series of co-branded 2023 sailings, with each of the 21 itineraries led by two Smithsonian Journeys Experts. Expertise from an art historian, solar astrophysicist or international relations expert provides guests on these sailings with a deeper knowledge of the places visited.
One of the sailings offered in 2023 brings guests along Iceland’s west coast to witness vast glaciers, fjords, volcanoes and boiling geysers. Running Aug. 13–20, this trip sees geologist and oceanographer Katryn Wiese and Scandinavian languages and literature expert Elisabeth Ward bring these landscapes to life through engaging discussions and unique adventures.
