SkyTeam announced plans to open a lounge inside Vancouver International Airport later this year. The opening will mark the company’s first lounge in North America and seventh worldwide. Other locations are at Heathrow (LHR), Beijing (PDX), Dubai (DBX), Hong Kong (HKG), Istanbul (IST) and Sydney (SYD).
The Vancouver lounge will include “a luxurious environment for First, Business and Elite Plus customers flying on any of the alliance’s nine member airlines currently serving the airport.” This list includes Aeromexico, China Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM, Korean Air and Xiamen Air.
“Increasing the number of shared facilities worldwide realizes significant synergies for our airlines while offering a greatly enhanced airport experience for our top customers,” said Perry Cantarutti, CEO and managing director, SkyTeam, adding that with the new opening the alliance, “will offer more branded airport lounges around the world than any other airline alliance.”
The company said it is focusing on projects that will “enhance the customer experience.”
