For all of SkyMall’s endless quirkiness, the company just couldn’t break even. The airplane seatback pocket mainstay catalog filed for bankruptcy last January.

But SkyMall is back, following a purchase from New Jersey-based C&A Marketing, which swooped in and bought the company’s assets in April. C&A soon said they would be relaunching the catalog and retooling the brand.

That relaunch includes an online site with an array of holiday gift ideas of the ilk we’ve all come to expect from SkyMall: There’s a line of sidewalk stakes that illuminate in a coordinated light show, an indoor ramp for pets who can’t quite make it onto elevated surfaces, Menorah cufflinks and much more.

SkyMall officially relaunched last year as an insert in United Airlines’ in-flight magazine, Hemispheres, as well as on the Amtrak Acela trains in the northeast United States. That was a trial, intended to see if consumers actually start purchasing from the catalog again. If they do, SkyMall will explore doing similar launches on other airlines and through other transportation providers.
