In October, Singapore Airlines launches the world’s longest commercial flights with non-stop service from Singapore (SIN) to Newark (EWR) on an Airbus A350-900ULR. Flights launch Oct. 11 three times per week before beginning daily service on Oct. 18, when another A350-900ULR enters service.
Singapore Airlines will be the first customer for this aircraft, configured in a two-cabin layout with 67 business-class seats and 94 premium-economy seats. The travel time will be up to 18 hours and 45 minutes. Singapore Airlines previously offered this flight, discontinued in 2013.
The A350-900ULR boasts higher ceilings, larger windows, an extra-wide body and lighting designed to reduce jet lag. A carbon composite frame improves air quality due to a more optimized cabin altitude and humidity levels. Flights are also planned to Los Angeles (LAX) with the A350-900ULR, with more details to be announced.
