Singapore Airlines announced last week it will begin service to San Francisco (SFO) Oct. 23. The airline will also add a second daily service to Los Angeles (LAX). The non-stop San Francisco service will operate daily using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering 253 seats in business, premium economy and economy classes. Currently, Singapore Airlines services San Francisco through Hong Kong (HKG) and Seoul (INC). When service begins to San Francisco straight from Singapore (SIN), the current Seoul route will reroute to serve Los Angeles. The new route is the longest in the airline’s network to date, until 2018, when the A350-900ULR is planned to enable even longer flights to North American destinations. “Our customers have been asking us to offer more U.S. services and we are pleased to be able to do so. With new non-stop San Francisco flights and the increase in frequency to Los Angeles, customers will have two flights to choose from each day to both of these popular U.S. West Coast destinations,” said Lee Wen Fen, senior vice president, marketing, planning, Singapore Airlines.
