On April 2, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport opened a new Sensory Room, introduced to mark World Autism Awareness Day. The Sensory Room is designed to reduce the stress of travel for those with neurological or development disabilities.
In addition, SEA also opened an Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room, welcoming all faiths and beliefs as an inclusive and peaceful place for meditation, worship and reflection.
The facilities are located on the Satellite Train Station level on the secure side of the airport. Media were invited to preview the spaces April 2, and speakers at the event included Port of Seattle Commissioner Stephanie Bowman, along with members of the local community who worked with the Port to plan, research and design the new spaces.
