SAS extends pre-ordering for its dining service to customers traveling on shorter flights within Europe.

The company initially launched its service last year for SAS Go (economy) customers on flights within Europe, but only on routes lasting longer than two hours. It allows passengers to pre-select vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, gluten- and lactose-free and pork-free dishes.

The program is available to passengers on flights of 80 minutes or longer, which the airline says doubled the number of flights with pre-ordering available. That means passengers on 80,000 flights a year have this option.

SAS sells 11 dishes, each costing €11. Customers select meals during the booking process, or later through the My Bookings section of the carrier’s website.

The airline says the decision “is a part of SAS’s environmental and sustainability work,” and allows the carrier to ensure “the right amount and type of meals are loaded to match customer demands on each specific flight.”
