Mosby Dry Goods Store, the new Quirk Hotel was built in 1916 by New York’s prestigious Starret and Van Vleck architectural firm. Merging great food with casual elegance and an emphasis on rich, salty and roasted flavors, executive chef David Dunlap’s Maple & Pine restaurant was nominated for Richmond’s best new restaurant — and diners will understand why with menu choices that include almond-crusted lamb with pickled blueberries and lavender hummus; and vanilla olive oil cake with rose custard and variations of apple, all prepared with ingredients produced by area farmers and food artisans. Along with breakfast, lunch and dinner, a weekend brunch is served with treats including buckwheat pancakes, hickory syrup and sassafras whipped cream.
