Suspended on the city’s skyline, Perch’s location on the top two floors of the historic Pershing Square Building in Los Angeles adds up to more than just a lofty address. Executive chef Gerardo Benitez’s kitchen team turns out a menu of French classic-inspired bistro fare, making the most of Southern California’s abundant fresh ingredients and boosting the eatery and its cocktail lounge firmly into the realm of elevated culinary experience. While details depend on market inspiration, choices may include a Fromage and Charcuterie Plate; scallops served with sunchoke-parsnip puree and a fresh pea salad; Loup de Mer with Israeli couscous caviar, white asparagus, spring onions and garlic nage; and possibly the best Brussels sprouts on the planet, finished with bacon, parmesan and sherry vinaigrette.

Pre-dinner, post dessert or worthy of a separate jaunt on its own, the rooftop bar on the 16^th floor directly above the restaurant encourages drinking in the views with something creative from the cocktail menu, such as a Saint Cloud made with Templeton rye, lemon juice and basil; or a Writers Block crafted from Grey Goose La Poire Vodka, St. Germain, lemon and sparkling wine. Prefer craft beers or fine wines? Covered, along with more than 25 wines by the glass and an array of rare Cognacs and French cordials. The space includes multiple fire features, creating a sense of intimacy in both private corners and the wide, beautifully tiled terraces. Live music and curated soundtracks by top DJs plus vintage artwork add to the atmosphere. The restaurant and bar are located at 448 South Hill St. Additional event space is also available on site, and only patrons aged 21 and up are admitted after 9 p.m.
