All September, travelers headed to Australia with a four-legged traveler will benefit from special promotions provided by InterContinental Hotels Group. The month-long recognition of International Dog Day includes special offers for dogs and expanded canine amenities.

At voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley, pups enjoy access to their own private courtyards, available in two luxury guestrooms — the perfect fit for travelers concerned their dog might not enjoy being cooped up in a hotel room. Homemade puppy treats are also on the hotel’s menu over the month.

At voco Gold Coast, Social House Cabana hosts a dog-friendly breakfast every Friday and Saturday, 7–11 a.m. Every dog leaves with beef jerky snacks made by the executive chef.

If you take your dog to the various watering holes at InterContinental Adelaide or Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific, dogs will enjoy special amenities such as water bowls, puppy-cinos, dog treats and biscuits.

“Australia has one of the highest rates of pet ownership in the world — and the hospitality industry is becoming more open to catering to canine companions — we invite [everyone] to celebrate [International Dog Day] and continue to do so until the end of September. All pooches are welcome!” said Ruwan Peiris, head of operations, Australasia, InterContinental Hotel Group.

High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture

It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
