In celebration of its 145^th anniversary this year, Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel offers guests an array of amenities honoring the hotel’s rich history. The property is the nation’s longest continually operating hotel, dating to 1871 when Palmer House opened as an extravagant wedding present to Bertha Palmer from Potter Palmer. Available on select dates through December 2016, the 145 Years of History offer includes special amenities in tribute to the hotel’s history priced at $145 per night. The amenities include two-night accommodations, a #Throwback 145^th Anniversary Brownie and two seasonal cocktails to toast. At Lockwood Restaurant, a seasonal #Throwback menu includes items from Potter’s Cook Book, such as mini beef wellingtons, blue points and the Old Chicago Passage Maple Manhattan. Potter’s Lounge will also feature Prohibition-inspired cocktails throughout the anniversary celebration, including the cider-based Founding Father’s Hooch. Beginning Sept. 26, the hotel’s actual anniversary, Palmer House launches the #ThisDayinPHHistory social media challenge. For 145 days, the hotel will share weekly trivia questions, testing participants’ knowledge of historical facts for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a gift certificate to Lockwood Restaurant, a free spa treatment or a free night’s stay.
