The current state of the Argentinean economy could mean good things for domestic flights. As Norwegian Air expands to South America, its popular low fares travel with them. Due to the struggling peso, flights within the country are as low as $18 per leg.
As of mid-October, the budget airline began selling tickets for in-country flights, hoping to encourage Argentineans to travel despite the current economic situation. Travelers can benefit from flight prices as low as 699 pesos ($18) between Buenos Aires (EZE) and Cordoba (OBD), and 999 pesos ($25) for flights between Buenos Aires and Bariloche (BRC).
Norwegian’s expansion to Argentina puts them in direct competition with LATAM Airlines, but the latter airline’s fares are slightly higher, at 1,673 pesos ($46) and 3,609 pesos ($99), respectively.
With this foray into local Argentinean travel, Norwegian also encourages travelers to fly to less-visited destinations and to use air travel to get there. In August, 1.3 million people flew domestically, a record for Argentina.
