Green initiatives on cruise lines continue with the latest report from Norwegian Cruise Line announcing the end of single-use plastic drink bottles across the entire fleet.

The line announced the change was in the works last year thanks to a partnership with JUST Goods Inc. The change comes to the entire 17-ship fleet, beginning with Norwegian Encore.

This is the latest in a long list of steps Norwegian has followed to this end. In 2018, the line eliminated plastic straws from ships and private destinations including Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. The initiative will remove more than 6 million single-use plastic bottles each year. Next, the line is working to reduce single-use shampoo and conditioner bottles.
