Niyama Private Islands in the Maldives offers surf fans new experiences. The resort is home to two islands: Play and Chill. Vodi wave is located off the shore of Play Island and Kasabu wave is located a five-minute speedboat ride west from Vodi. While surfing may be enjoyed year-round, March–November offers bigger surf and less crowds.

Through May 7, surf strength coach Cris Mills offers individual and group classes in the water and at the gym and spa for guests interested in improving their surf practice. Mills utilizes a holistic approach, offering surf coaching, surf movement analysis, breath work and posture.

Professional surf photographer Naomi Adbib is doing a residency at the resort through July to capture images of guests surfing. Adbib specializes in surfing, water and lifestyle photography, capturing popular surfers in action. During her time at the resort, Adbib can join individual surf lessons to track guest’s progress during their stay. She can also take drone and video footage to compile into one-minute surf videos.

Niyama Private Islands also recently introduced a new speedboat to transport guests to lesser-known waves further from the resort. The boat, Sea Breeze, can accommodate up to six guests, plus a surf guide on the journey to explore faraway atolls and uninhabited islands.

Following your surfing adventure, hang out with Adbib and Mills, along with other surfers at Surf Shack. The food truck offers cocktails and gourmet snacks.
