A new WalletHub report ranks the best and worst staycation cities in the United States. Setting off across the country or around the globe is ideal when it comes to time off work, but sometimes it’s worth exploring the city you call home.
WalletHub studied 182 cities across the United States and measured a number of factors. The metrics include average cost of movies, spas per capita and the average cost of housekeeping services.
The top cities in the United States for staycations are also the ones travelers look toward for vacations. Honolulu, Orlando and Chicago top the list. Charleston, Tampa and San Francisco also land in the top 10.
The worst cities for staycations include Jersey City, New Jersey; Yonkers, New York; and Chula Vista, California.
Honolulu ranks No. 1 overall in terms of most tennis courts and spas per capita. It shares the tennis court honor with Chicago and spa metric with New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago and Orlando.
