Europe welcomes a new budget airline that will feature routes to the Caribbean for a fraction of the cost of major airlines. French travel company Groupe Dubreuil announced the new airline, named French Blue, will begin its service from Paris Orly Airport to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic later this year, with plans to expand to other islands throughout the Caribbean. French Blue will be France’s first low-cost, long-haul airline and will join the ranks of other European nations who have capitalized on the international budget travel market such as Norwegian Air and WOW Air. Flights will include meals, one checked bag and, for an additional fee, WiFi throughout the cabin. The airline will employ the Airbus A330 and A350 as part of its fleet for long distances. French Blue hopes to fly to even more destinations in 2017 with possible routes to the islands of Mauritius and Réunion in the Indian Ocean.
