Travel search engine KAYAK recently unveiled their 2015 KAYAK Holiday Travel Hacker to assist travelers with planning their holiday vacations and getaways. Filled with data compiled by the company’s own researchers and specialists, the Hacker reveals pertinent data regarding top destinations for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, as well as information on median airfare.
“Don’t worry about the when or where to travel this holiday season – we crunched the numbers and figured it out for you. Our data uncovered fantastic holiday deals in cities around the globe, as well as up-and-coming hot spots to ring in the New Year. If you’re unsure of how or where to spend your holidays, KAYAK has the solution,” said David Solomito, North America brand director, KAYAK.
Some of the most useful information includes a list of the top destinations offering the largest decrease in airfare over the holidays. Hong Kong is at the top of the list with a decrease of 29 percent. Close behind are Taipei, Rio de Janeiro and Chicago. Search information for New Year’s Eve flights and accommodations revealed which cities are expected to be the most popular for ringing in the New Year. Dubai took the top spot, followed by Cartagena, Barcelona and Reykjavik.
Given the data compiled on median airfare, the Holiday Travel Hacker recommends North American travelers should book no sooner than two weeks before Thanksgiving, three weeks before Christmas and four weeks before New Year’s, in order to ensure they receive the best pricing.
