Moxy NYC Chelsea opened in the Flower District last month. The nearly 350-guestroom hotel was designed with the locals in mind, with amenities to suit the community’s dining, drinking, shopping and co-working needs. The result? A truly local feel for guests of the New York property.

The new build features a Putnam & Putnam Flower Shop, set within a three-story glass atrium, featuring a “botanical library” of walled garden of plants, reachable via a wheeled ladder. The brand is famous for catering to luxury clientele and celebrities seeking bespoke floral arrangements for weddings and events.

Check-in kiosks are created from four butcher blocks suspended from the 12-foot ceiling, alluding to the area’s Meatpacking District. A digital guestbook streams images and videos tagged at or taken in the hotel.

The three types of guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows and storable furniture that can be folded and hung when not in use. The unique MONDO Suite is an entertainment suite on the 32nd floor; it boasts 18-foot ceilings, industrial-style windows and views of the Empire State Building.

On-site dining and drinks include Feroce Ristorante, serving traditional and modern Italian cuisine; Feroce Caffè, specializing in fresh-baked donuts from the vintage donut machine and coffee; Bar Feroce, the Italian snack bar and lounge with comfort food, oven-fired pizzas and classic cocktails; The Backyard, an all-season, alfresco pizza joint, with a terra cotta oven and drinking games; and The Fleur Room, a rooftop lounge with glass chandeliers, a vintage disco ball and unbeatable views.
