Long Island City’s waterfront parks will be the setting for this summer’s INSITU Site-Specific Dance Festival, with performances August 4–5 from 1–8 p.m., each day. Free to the public, the festival will feature 20 new commissioned works created by a handpicked selection of national and international choreographers, including Douglas Dunn, Alice Gosti, Chantal Caron/Fleuve Espace Danse and Sarah Elgart of Angry Elbow.
The festival is structured to have performances take place simultaneously on four stages each day at the following locations: Hunters Point South Park, Gantry Plaza State Park, Queensbridge Park and Socrates Sculpture Park. The 2018 festival also includes the Community Dance Workshop, hosted this year by Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlements. The workshop will take place over four weeks in June with a performance planned for the August festival.
