Business travelers as a whole don’t seem to mind the idea of employers using GPS tracking, despite what some may consider an invasion of privacy.
A recent survey on the topic by Travelport showed 55 percent of business travelers don’t mind if companies monitor their business travels via GPS, while 45 percent said they would object to such a request. The results were collected in Travelport’s 2018 US Business Traveler and Travel Policy report.
The report showed most business travelers claim to comply with their company’s travel policies, with 69 percent saying they always comply, 26 percent saying they often do; 89 percent said their companies were conscientious about how business travel affects their personal lives.
The majority also said their company allows them to keep miles and loyalty rewards they accrue on business trips.
Fifty-seven percent said their companies increased business travel spending in 2018, while 85 percent said their companies reimburse for expenses like in-flight WiFi and checked bags.
