Highly rated by visitors, Sugarlands Distilling Company in Gatlinburg, Tenn., has welcomed nearly 2 million visitors since its opening in spring of 2014. Positioned in the gorgeous area close to the entrance of Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the distillery produces 14 different flavors of moonshine including 70-proof Root Beer, 40-proof Blockader’s Blackberry, 50-proof Appalachian Apple Pie, and — for serious fans — 100-proof Mint Condition and 100-proof Silver Cloud Tennessee Sour Mash.

The Mark and Digger’s Rye Apple flavor celebrates the distillery’s partnership with Mark Ramsey and Digger Manes, who star in Discovery Channel’s television series Moonshiners. Free daily tours are offered, plus premium tours with private tastings. Distiller for the Day Workshops are also available, allowing visitors the chance to enjoy a day with head distiller Greg Eidam to learn the art of moonshine production from corn grinding to final product, with lunch as part of the experience. Cost is $250 per person for groups of two to 10 people.
