Marriott’s The Luxury Collection announced the signing of IRAPH SUI, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Okinawa.
Slated to open in late 2018 as the third Luxury Collection hotel in Japan, the island resort will be located in the city of Miyakojima on an elevated headland on the southwestern coastline of Irabu, a small island in the Miyako Islands group.
The 57-room hotel will offer stunning sea views; nine luxurious suites with private plunge pools; an outdoor swimming pool; a state-of-the-art spa; an all-day restaurant; and a relaxing pool bar and beach club.
“We are thrilled to welcome this island resort to our portfolio in Japan,” said Mitzi Gaskins, global brand leader, The Luxury Collection. “The luxury vacation market in Japan is a well-established one, and sophisticated travellers are always looking for exciting new destinations and authentic experiences wherever they go.”
The Miyako Islands are popular for white-sand beaches; crystal-clear water; premier scuba diving; underwater rock formations from volcanic activity; underwater caves and grottoes; and abundant coral and sea life.
The islands are located approximately 250 miles east of Taipei, and Miyako (MMY) airport has direct flight connections to Tokyo (all airports), Osaka (ITM) and Nagoya (NKM).
