Marriott Plans To Expand European Presence

Daily

To cater to growth in tourism and business travel, Marriott International Inc., plans to significantly grow its presence in Europe within the next five years. The hotel company expects to sign or open 150,000 rooms across its portfolio of brands in the region by 2020, a significant increase from the 40,000 rooms it operated in 2010.

“Since 2010, we have been focused on developing strong brands across all tiers to meet different customer needs and we are seeing incredible momentum with over 34,000 new rooms opened or signed by the end of 2014,” said Amy McPherson, president and managing director, Marriott International, Europe. “This includes the introduction of four new luxury lifestyle brands to Europe — Autograph Collection, AC Hotels by Marriott, EDITION and Moxy Hotels.”

Looking forward to 2020, Moxy Hotels is slated to experience the most growth, with an anticipated 25,000 signed rooms. Eastern and Western Europe will see the strongest growth over the next two years, with more than 50 percent of pipeline growth. By the end of 2016, more than 1,000 rooms are expected to open in Russia and JW Marriott Bodrum, Turkey, will open in spring this year, the seventh JW Marriott hotel in Europe. In Western Europe, nearly 3,000 rooms are slated to open in the next two years, with strong growth expected from Autograph Collection. In the United Kingdom and Ireland, Moxy Hotels will open more than 1,000 anticipated rooms in 2016, including three hotels in London and one in Aberdeen. Central Europe is expected to experience 25 percent of development pipeline growth, with 1,200 Moxy rooms expected to open by the end of 2016.

Williamsburg Inn Review

You don’t have to love brass chandeliers or brocade to appreciate what Williamsburg Inn does best: delivering a polished, unpretentious stay amid America’s most iconic living history museum. This is where you check in for traditional luxury without feeling like you’re trapped in a time capsule. The Queen stayed here (twice), and so did Eisenhower, but you’re not here to make history. You’re here to enjoy it, on your own terms.
