Marriott International recently announced plans for a new W Hotels property in Toronto, marking the brand’s entrance into the major Canadian city. The property is slated for a nine-story building in the Yorkville neighborhood, where more than 250 guestrooms give travelers easy access to high-end shopping and dining. The property is expected to open in mid-2020.
Property plans include an indoor/outdoor lobby bar, lounge with DJ booth and recording studio, specialty restaurant, rooftop restaurant, coffee and cocktail bar, large fitness facility and expansive meeting space.
“We are applying a unique, vibrant sensibility to the upcoming W Toronto, one that has not been seen before in Toronto,” said Paul Cahill, area vice president, Eastern Canada, Marriott International. “The exciting evolution of this property into Toronto’s first W hotel is consistent with the ongoing evolution of this Toronto neighborhood whose vibrancy, sophistication, and density continues to grow. This is a strategic location for the brand, and we foresee it welcoming international business and leisure travelers, but also becoming a destination for urban thrill-seekers.”
