Opened in March, Parador de Ibiza became the 99th location  in Spain’s collection of stunning Paradores, and the first on Ibiza in the Balearic Islands. Each parador is set within a notable historic and cultural landmark structure — castles, monasteries and fortresses — that have been thoughtfully converted into luxurious hotels.

In Spanish, the word “parar” means to linger or stay, and this treasure trove of historically significant properties makes lingering an absolute pleasure. Set within the Mediterranean upon UNESCO-listed Dalt Vila, the highest point in Ibiza Town, Parador de Ibiza is a magnificent leisure travel destination, as well as an impressive location and enticing incentive for meetings and events.

“I think we are all looking for something beyond the impersonal ballrooms we’re used to for meetings,” said José María Pérez Sanz, director, Tourist Office of Spain in Chicago. “If that’s the case, Parador de Ibiza offers a refreshing alternative. Especially for smaller meetings, it combines the intimacy and focus of a more personal setting with the unique Mediterranean atmosphere of Ibiza. The surroundings create a more relaxed and inspiring environment — one that encourages conversation, creativity and genuine connection, while still providing the right setting for productive meetings. It’s a place where the destination becomes part of the meeting experience, rather than simply the backdrop.”

Close to city center and main port, and providing views of the island’s harbor and Mediterranean Sea, the hotel is housed within former Almudaina Castle. Indications of the Phoenician, Roman, Islamic, medieval and Renaissance cultures that came before have been carefully preserved. Contemporary luxury melds seamlessly with museum-housed archaeological remains, ancient walls, courtyards, bastions and other architectural elements; while the addition of paintings, photographs and sculptures by well-known contemporary artists reflects the essence of this island location and allow attendees to immerse themselves in a truly unique meeting experience.

Appropriate for executive retreats, incentive programs and meetings ranging from small to mid-sized, Parador de Ibiza’s advantageous position near the city’s historic area offers boundless opportunities for cultural programming and immersive experiences. Making the property even more alluring is ease of access. New non-stop connections between Newark (EWR) and Ibiza (IBZ) with United Airlines are set to launch in May 2027.

Review: Caribe Royale Orlando

It’s truly its own universe: Caribe Royale Orlando is a sprawling property beckoning you forward with its coral pink exterior spanning many towers and buildings. The two-level lobby alone feels more like a community than a hotel lobby, with a Starbucks; access to the signature restaurant (in the midst of renovations), sports bar and gift shop; and a plethora of seating options. The bilevel layout also makes the entire space seem larger, opening up to the massive pool awaiting just behind the back doors.

Why Japan Is Best Explored by Sea with Princess

Japan is a destination that rewards repeat visits because no two regions — or seasons —  feel quite the same. One moment, you’re wandering through centuries-old geisha districts in Kanazawa. The next, you’re watching neon reflections dance across Tokyo streets long after midnight.

The Flight Less Taken: Unsung Carriers Whisk You Away to Far-Flung Destinations

The miracle of flight feels slightly less miraculous these days. Endless delays, cramped seating and shortchanged amenities feel par for the course, and one can easily forget the wondrous fact that you’re hurtling above planet Earth, soaring above the clouds and across the skies to your destination of choice. In the olden days, you were limited to the fallibility of your outrigger canoe or horse-drawn carriage. It’s not hyperbolic to invoke the invention of the wheel when reminding oneself to stay calm and carry on in coach.
