A trip themed on … rabbits? It may seem odd, but it’s totally possible in South Carolina, at the Swamp Rabbit Inn. The inn is actually two properties, each positioned at opposite ends of the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Greenville and Travelers Rest. The path is a 20-mile long multiuse trail named for the resident indigenous cottontail rabbits found here. If you want to learn about rabbits and meet a few in person, head to Garden Gate Rabbit Park in Laurens County, home to purebred and heritage breeds.

When you’re feeling peckish, head to Swamp Rabbit Brewery & Taproom in Travelers Rest, easily identifiable by the enormous mural depicting a bunny leaping through a keg; or the Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery near Greenville, marked by a bicycle mounted on the roof. Inside, visitors will find a plethora of local and regional products, a café, bakery, cooking classes and freshly baked artisan pizzas. Other choices include Momma Rabbit’s Nibbles and Sips in Lexington, famous for its Reuben sandwiches.
