This year is poised to be a big one for Lufthansa Group, which plans to hire more than 5,000 employees in 2019.

In the airline’s home markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium alone, the airline plans to add 5,500 employees. Specifically, the airline is looking to add more than 1,300 flight attendants at its Munich (MUC) hub and at SWISS in Zürich (ZRH). The core brand will add about 1,200 new hires at Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich hubs in business roles.

Lufthansa is also adding to its fleet of pilots, as more than 500 pilots will begin training as flight students in the European Flight Academy in 2019.

Through the airline’s online hiring hub, more than 170,000 people applied for positions in 2018.

The Lufthansa Tehnik Group is set to add more than 1,200 workers in Germany, including several hundred operational employees, 400 direct entry employees and 200 apprentices. In Germany, more than 300 new junior employee and apprentice positions are planned. The employee growth across all brands signifies a strong growth in the Lufthansa brand.
