Movie buffs looking forward to the watching the Academy Awards Sunday night may want to check out a new page on the Leading Hotels of the World website. Timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the Academy Awards — which also happens to be the 85th anniversary of Leading Hotels — the website features (you guessed it) 85 movies that have filmed at member hotels.
From Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, Calif. (Something’s Gotta Give) to The Pierre, a Taj Hotel in New York City (Scent of a Woman); La Mamounia in Marrakech (The Man Who Knew Too Much) to Hotel Okura in Tokyo (Walk, Don’t Run), featured hotels play a key role in engaging movie audiences in their stories.
And in an interesting switch, Leading Hotels of the World recently partnered with the producers of the Italian film Viaggio Solo. Set to premier in Rome in March, the movie chronicles the life of a fictitious Leading Hotels and features seven member hotels around the world.
