On Jan. 3, LAN launched its first international flight on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Los Angeles (LAX) to Santiago, Chile (SCL). The airline will operate non-stop service on this route Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and will begin daily flights from Los Angeles to Lima, Peru (LIM), in February. The Premium Class cabin on LAN’s Dreamliner features horizontal full-flat seats with an ottoman for foot support, a memory system that records the seat position chosen by the passenger and a lumbar massage. The aircraft offers oversized windows that dim electronically and high-definition video screens at every seat, and because the aircraft is made primarily of lightweight carbon composites instead of metal, it is more flexible and passengers experience fewer bumps during turbulence.
