La Bahia Hotel & Spa recently opened as the newest resort and first luxury hotel in Santa Cruz, California. Situated in the middle of Main Beach, where the tip of Monterey Bay meets the Pacific, this new hotel embraces the theme of More to the Sea, paying homage to its seaside location and the transformative state of being.

A grand porte cochère and vibrant lobby displaying worldly artifacts greets guests upon arrival. Next to the lobby is the on-site, London-inspired Champagne bar. The hotel spans 29 signature suites, all featuring Nespresso coffee machines, Frette bathrobes and a serene design blending ocean elements with Spanish patterns. Guestrooms also include hand-painted canvases, marble-clad bathrooms and dual vanities. Bathrooms boast oversized, walk-in showers and Le Labo bath products. Many bathrooms also house generous soaking tubs. An honor bar comes stocked full of local favorites, too.

La Bahia’s culinary program celebrates Santa Cruz’s rich agricultural scene. High Tide, the hotel’s signature restaurant, is a Pacific Rim-inspired concept with specialties like miso-glazed butterfish and umami forest risotto. Low Tide Bar & Grill, meanwhile, offers craft cocktails, live music, and a patio for happy hours and morning coffees. Pearl is the Champagne, bar transporting guests to the elegance of London, complete with wines, Champagnes, spirits and creative libations. Guests can head to Plunge, a lively poolside lounge with light bites and whimsical drinks.

The hotel also features a spa, complete with four indoor and four outdoor treatment rooms, a signature ocean-view sauna, two steam rooms, and a rooftop Zen deck with ocean views. Seaside Roof Deck, a 5,200-square-foot space, is available for events. In total, the hotel comes with more than 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
