KLM Welcomes New Boeing 777-300

Daily / Feature

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flew its newest Boeing 777-300 from Seattle to Amsterdam last weekend, its first 777 to be outfitted with new economy- and business-class configurations and to sport new KLM livery.

In keeping with its tradition of naming aircraft after World Heritage Sites and nature reserves, the new aircraft, KLM’s 24th Boeing 777, is named Tijuca National Park, for the 32-square-kilometer park in Rio de Janeiro.

KLM’s enhanced World Business Class features a new full-flat seat offering maximum privacy for the passenger. Warmer colors, ample storage space, softer cushions and luxurious blankets ensure comfort onboard. Personal 16-inch screens offer touch-screen handsets and a dual-screen experience lets passengers play games or chat while watching a movie.

The new economy-class cabin offers greater legroom, an ergonomically-optimized headrest, specially designed cushions, sustainable high-density materials and a power socket. The new seats are the lightest in their class, helping to reduce CO2 emissions. The in-flight entertainment system offers more than 150 films and 200 TV shows on nine-inch touchscreens. Passengers can chat with one another using the Seat Chat function.

KLM has been in operation since 1919, making it the world’s oldest airline still operating under its original name. In 2004, KLM merged with Air France to form Air France KLM, the strongest European airline group with hubs at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle. KLM is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance, and the airline connects the Netherlands with every important economic region in the world. Its Flying Blue frequent-flyer program has more than 24.5 million members.
