Located in Aruba, Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort provides an island getaway for any type of traveler in need of an escape from everyday life. The AAA Three Diamond and pet-friendly boutique resort boasts six different modern room types among its 72 studios and suites while still maintaining its exterior Dutch Colonial architecture. The resort is currently going through a floor-to-ceiling renovation. Check out some of the highlights from the renovation.

Rooms

A redesign of the rooms is currently underway in all studios and suites, completely gutting everything from the original building built 32 years ago. This renovation includes artwork by local photographers, large smart TVs, rustic furniture and custom-made mosaic tile in every room. This upgrade makes the rooms a more modernized space with upgraded technology.

Passions on the Beach

The beach bar doubled in size, allowing for more efficient service to both people walking by on the boardwalk and guests lounging at the beach. The Passions Beach Deck has been revamped, as well. It now sports wood-like flooring, new furniture and locally crafted blue sunshades. It will also serve breakfast. The beach bar is perfect for a mid-day drink and a place to let loose.

Mangos Restaurant & Horizons Bar

Mangos’ Kitchen was renovated to take advantage of the space to create an efficient and functional kitchen, upgrading the overall dining experience. Head up the stairs for a favorite happy hour location, Horizons Bar. The bar is a fan-favorite place to watch sunsets or just kick back and relax. The new upgrade included new bright color sunshades, a brand-new wooden countertop and new furniture, which also makes it a great space for events or weddings.

Pool and Public Areas

The pool has new bright yellow umbrellas to match the island’s luminous skies. The freshwater and kiddie pools have been redesigned with new tile flooring and paint. A spa and gym will be added within the next year, and parking has been updated to create more space.

When the Sun Goes Down, the Party Begins on Mykonos

There is something magical about sipping a glass of local wine while watching the sun slip into the Aegean Sea as the afterglow tinges traditional, white-washed Cycladic houses with glorious shades of rose, purple and gold. Ancient Greeks believed Helios, the Sun God, caused sunsets by driving his fiery chariot into the sea. Standing at water’s edge in Mykonos, watching the sky slowly turn from purple to inky black, you almost believe it.

Cruise Alaska for Awe-Inspiring Adventures to Delight All Ages

I hadn’t even made it to my first cup of coffee when I got an early phone call from my sister, who lives two time zones away. “OMG, Kristy, Patsy Cline came on twice while I was driving the kids to school today,” she laughed. “You know what that means, right?” We both gasped and then instantly began singing the lyrics to “La Bamba,” an inside joke we’d shared since our family’s Alaskan cruise decades ago when we, unintentionally, won the ship’s karaoke contest among a sea of Patsy Cline tributes.

The Lancaster Hotel Review

Located in the heart of Houston’s Theatre District, the recently renovated Lancaster Hotel originally opened in 1926. The classic interior with an abundance of natural light floods the two-story lobby. A shimmering chandelier and elegant marble floors juxtapose nicely with the contemporary art displayed on the salon staircase wall.

Beyond the Beach: See Hawai’i’s Diverse Verdant and Volcanic Landscapes on an Island-Hopping Cruise

Midway Atoll is the end of the Hawai‘ian Islands, literally. This is the ultimate fate of these low, sandy islets ringing a lagoon: Eventually these last remnants of a once large volcanic island will sink beneath the waves, completing a story that began 1,500 miles away. Midway, though not easy to get to, occasionally features in cruise itineraries. Holland America Line’s Westerdam offers a rare chance to glimpse the remotest of all the Hawai‘ian Islands with a scheduled stop in October 2024. You can still see the relics of the famous World War II battle here as well as a million nesting albatrosses and other seabirds.
