Key West International Airport recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of its $100 million expansion. Roman Gastesi, administrator, Monroe County; Richard Strickland, director of airports; and others attended the ceremony and outlined details of the Concourse A terminal expansion project.

Slated to take 2.5 years to complete, the expansion will improve the airport’s service level and operational flexibility, and accommodate changes anticipated in the aviation industry. Adding a new second-level concourse will allow for nearly 50,000 square feet of extra space to include a contemporary departure area, additional baggage spaces and an upgraded security checkpoint with up to four security lanes.

The expansion also includes seven passenger boarding jet bridges that will offer all-weather access between the terminal and aircraft. An extended passenger bridge will connect the existing terminal building to the new concourse.

With the new expansion set to be completed by early summer 2025, six carriers currently serve Key West International Airport, located on S. Roosevelt Boulevard near the entrance to the city of Key West, daily with nonstop flights: Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Silver Airways and United Airlines.
