An iconic Hawai’i hotel is getting an overhaul and is making its debut this spring.

Hawai’i’s self-proclaimed “most-Hawai’ian hotel” is in the final stages of a massive evolution. Kā’napali Beach Hotel, in West Maui, is being reimagined to project Hawai’ian culture throughout the hotel more clearly.

The renovation is a renaissance for the property. It cost $65 million and transformed the Kaua’i Wing and the courtyard while adding a new restaurant and more space for parking.

“The focus of our upcoming $65 million project is to enhance our opportunities to provide the exceptional and culturally enriching guest experiences for which Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel has become known,” said Mike White, general manager, Kā’napali Beach Hotel.

Hotel ownership doesn’t view the change as a renovation, but more of a renewal of the hotel’s identity.

In the Kaua’i Wing, all 180 rooms are getting comprehensive upgrades including new design elements and amenities showcasing Hawai’ian culture. Huihui, the hotel’s new restaurant, celebrates Hawai’ian wayfinding and houses authentic paddling and sailing canoes.

The property was built in 1964 and offers 432 guestrooms. Most of the transformation will be completed by this spring, but the project will reach total completion before the end of the year. Much of the property remains open and operational for guests during the work.
