Jumeirah recently announced a partnership with Thanda Group, a collection of privately owned hospitality experiences, to introduce two new destinations in Africa: Jumeirah Thanda Island in Tanzania and Jumeirah Thanda Safari in South Africa.
Jumeirah Thanda Island will lie within the protected Shungimbili Marine Reserve in Tanzania, featuring an immersive, exclusive-use villa. Accessible via helicopter from Dar es Salaam, by speedboat from Mafia Island or by short flight from Dar es Salaam, this retreat boasts five suites and two Swahili bandas, providing guests with direct access to the ocean.

The property also comes with its own private chef and culinary team, as well as a dedicated boatman who guides daily trips. Jumeirah Thanda Island’s ocean stewardship initiatives include coral reef restoration and a program to protect endangered sea turtles.
Jumeirah Thanda Safari, meanwhile, can be found in the rich wildlife area of South Africa’s northern KwaZulu Natal province, offering guests unparalleled experiences in one of Africa’s most exclusive Big Five nature reserves.

Accommodation options include Jumeirah Residences at The Royal Thanda Club, part of Africa’s lifestyle club, which welcomes guests this month with additional purpose-built branded residences available to purchase. Looking ahead to 2027, the property plans to introduce a new lodge and ultra-luxury tented camp. On-site teams of wildlife experts are available to lead guests on adventures across the private reserve’s plans, with activities like game drives, bush walks, dining under the stars, sundowners with panoramic views and a junior ranger course offered.
