Armchair travel takes on a whole new dimension with the launch of the first webcams in the Middle East. The Jordan Tourism Board has teamed with EarthCam to launch a collection of live-streaming webcams showcasing some of the country’s most iconic locations.

The webcams act as a virtual passport offering live views of Jordan’s top sites including the Citadel in Amman where excavations have uncovered Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic artifacts. A second webcam in Amman sweeps viewers high above city streets for a bird’s-eye view of Jordan’s capital city.

A webcam located at the Dead Sea holds the title “lowest webcam on the planet” and a webcam in Aqaba showcases Jordan’s window to the sea with uninterrupted views of the Read Sea. The collection also includes a webcam at the ancient site of Petra. Jordan’s most well-known attraction is a vast city carved into sheer rock face by Arab Nabataean civilization more than 2,000 years ago.
