JetBlue rolled out its new cabin experience last month, which includes the widest seats available for the Airbus 320 aircraft. The seats also have custom-designed, seatback in-flight entertainment with 100-plus channels of DIRECTV and hundreds of free movies and shows, pairing ability with passengers’ mobile devices to the screen, easy-to-reach power sources at every seat and expanded coverage of free WiFi connectivity almost everywhere JetBlue flies.

The A320 makes up the majority of the airline’s fleet and the update is the first since the airline started flights in 2000.

“JetBlue rocked the airline industry in 2000 with seatback television and all leather seats. In our first makeover since this incredible new onboard experience represents what the founders would have done if they were launching JetBlue today,” said Marty St. George, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, JetBlue. “The new experience brings together technology, entertainment, and comfort with the great service JetBlue customers love so much.”

The updates are several years in the making, and the airline predicts roughly one-third of its fleet will be restyled by the end of the year.
