One of the top ways a flight can be ruined is ending up in the vicinity of a crying baby. But one airline is taking measures to give passengers control over this bad luck.
Japan Airlines introduced a feature in its booking platform that allows travelers to view the complete seating chart, including where children (between 8 days and 2 years old) will be sitting on the plane. Travelers just need to look for the small child icon on the seat.
Although this new feature may be helpful for baby dodgers, it’s not a fool-proof plan. The feature only applies to bookings made on the Japan Airlines website and if there is an aircraft change the icons will not appear.
In order to make the experience more enjoyable for families, Japan Airlines rents strollers in the airport and will check personal baby strollers for no extra charge. Travelers with infants receive priority boarding and the airline offers hot water to warm up bottles and diaper-changing facilities.
